Wayne met up with the Pieces of Eight in 1980 when they were looking for a trumpet player to fill in at the upcoming Atlanta Beach Festival at Stone Mountain Park. Along with regularly performing with the "Pieces", Wayne works for recording studios in Athens as a studio musician and performs with Randall Bramblett and Widespread Panic. In order to support his love of music, Wayne works as an IT manager for Macy's Systems and Technology.
